LANGUAGE FOCUS 03 Talking about what you would like to do
Mauro and Hiro write:
I want to make a lot of money.
After I finish my course, I would really like to be an artist or an art teacher.
Mauro: I hope to work with computers after I finish studying.

Mauro and Hiro want these things to happen in the future. They are not sure that they will happen.

We can use I want, I'd like (I would like) and I hope to talk about things we want to happen in the future.

would (really) like be an artist.
want make a lot of money.

We can also use would like when we order food in a restaurant. I'd like (I would like) is a polite way to ask for food we want now.

I'd like a chicken sandwich, please. (I would like a chicken sandwich now.)

I'd like a coffee, please. (I would like a coffee now.)
